Smoothie and salads for the brain

If there is one thing people who know me well know, it’s that I’m a thorough investigator with things that I am deeply interested in. I think has something to do with my father being a former investigator. Runs in the family. Ha!

When I first came across Bulletproof, the company completely intrigued me. First I tried their coffee, which is amazing and one that we always have in our home. Then, I moved on to the brain octane oil.  It’s a reliable and quick source of energy from fat, not sugar. It also helps your body burn fat. The best part, because I’m an overtired parent, it helps with mental clarity. Yes, please!

We’ve been using it for quite a while now, and I wanted to share a couple of different ways we incorporate into our lifestyle.

Smoothies, who doesn’t like a good smoothie. We make them often. Here is what we add…

1/2 cup blueberries

1/2 cup strawberries

1 cup organic spinach

1 Tablespoon hemp hearts

1 Tablespoon brain octane oil

1 scoop Bulletproof collagen protein powder

1 cup of filtered water or more or less depending on what consistency you like. You can also add almond milk.

Blend it up and enjoy!

The other easy option for adding this amazing brain boost in, is salads.  We eat our fair share of salads around here, so this is an easy one for us too. Here is a simple recipe for a yummy dinner salad…you can add your own measurements depending on how much you are making.

1 cup arugula

1/2-1 avocado

chopped up cilantro

1/2 of a chopped up red onion

1 Persian cucumber

sun dried tomatoes or cherry tomatoes

For the dressing…

1-2 tablespoons brain octane oil

1 fresh squeezed lemon

Himalayan pink salt

sprinkle of pepper and I sometimes will add a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.

That’s it!! Super easy and full of great fats.

I can’t wait to hear if you try the oil, it really is amazing for your body. Also, I would love to hear if you already use it and the ways that you incorporate into your life.

Stay healthy, friends!!

The Best Water to drink

real water1 new

Hope everyone is having a great week! Tomorrow is Friday, yay!

To begin with, we are going to be starting a health series on here, with healthy, easy go-to foods. I think many of you will enjoy it.  But first, who’s a water snob? I totally am, not going to lie. We live in Santa Barbara, and I have to be honest, I have never tasted such terrible water (sorry SB). To me it has a sulfur, sodium, something else taste. Gross, right?! WE obviously never drink it out of the tab.  We have always used the ole faithful Brita filter.  I’m sure the Brita works fine, but I still could taste something that wasn’t what I felt good about drinking.  I drink LOTS of water.  More than the normal, I’m sure!

A while back my husband brought this water home called Real Water.  We both loved it.  It was a bit more pricey, but we really enjoyed the taste. It was alkalized water, infused with negative ions.  Whenever we would find it (it isn’t available everywhere), we would buy it.  Then, then the BIG day came, I was reading an article about Sun Potion, a local transformational foods company, that I LOVE, and the owner mentioned he also drank Real Water.  He also mentioned that he had it delivered to him, and that was all I needed to hear. I was on the phone, and three days later, had the water delivered. Sidenote: you can rent a water cooler from them, but you know, Mrs. OCD over here, I needed to buy my own with my specific needs. Ha! Here is the one I purchased.

So, now we have 3,  5 gallon jugs delivered every 2 weeks.  They charge $12 for the 5 gallon jugs.  Totally worth it in my book.

Please go check out their website, and read more if you’re interested.  This is your health, people! You will immediately know the difference as soon as it touches your mouth.  It’s smooth and CLEAN!

Thank me later. Enjoy!
