A Day At Disneyland

Eleanor turned four this month, and Disneyland was what her heart desired. Seeing the expressions on her face when she met Mickey Mouse, and her favorites characters were priceless. Join us for a fun filled day at the “happiest place on earth.”

Our first stop was Toontown, where Pluto greeted us. Pluto, also called Pluto the Pup, is a cartoon dog created in 1930 at Walt Disney Productions. Walt was inspired to create Disney’s top dog by remembering the personable pooches he met while living on the farm in his childhood home of Marceline, Missouri. Ever since Pluto has, as Walt put it, been “working hard and trying, but usually not succeeding, in staying out of trouble.” Pluto is Mickey’s pet.

Meeting Alice was Eleanor’s favorite experience. Alice in Wonderland is a 1951 American animated musical fantasy-adventure film produced by Walt Disney Productions and based on the Alice books by Lewis Carroll. The 13th of Disney’s animated features, the film premiered in New York City and London on July 26, 1951. The Mad Hatter wished Eleanor the happiest of birthdays.

A day at the Magic Kingdom is not enough time to see all Disneyland has to offer, but we made the most of it. “It’s a Small World,” walking with the “Beast,” meeting “Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Minnie Mouse,” riding in the tea cups, pictures, popcorn and souvenirs made this the best day ever!

If you have a Disneyland experience to share feel free to share in the comments.

Family

familyfun

We’re having lots of fun over here!  The family is in town and we are exploring everywhere.  I love when my mom and dad are here and I get to spend some quality time with them.  Today we are off to Malibu to visit my uncle.  The drive alone on the PCH is amazing!  We may even hit my favorite little spot called Paradise Cove.  Yum!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

avocado festival

a7

This past weekend we had the annual avocado festival in town.  It’s actually located in Carpinteria, which is 10 minutes from Santa Barbara.  We go every year, and enjoy it every year.  They have avocado ice cream, lots of guac, and anything else you can make with avocados.  We tend to over indulge in eating in the matter of a couple of hours.

This year we had some amazing carne asade tacos with guac, strawberry shortcake with avocado drizzle, and funnel cakes.  It was all good!

There’s also a bunch of vendors that set up, so of course we did a little shopping. We ended the night listening to a couple local bands play.

Good times with good friends!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

a night on the river

river

Hello from Florida!

We are still here and still enjoying every moment of it.  This place is so beautiful.  It’s amazing how every which way you turn there is water, whether it’s an ocean or a river.  We happen to not only be by the beautiful Atlantic ocean, which is by far, WAY warmer than the Pacific ocean, but we happen to be by two gorgeous rivers.  The Indian river and the Banana river are the two that we cross to get to the ocean.  When I first arrived here I thought the rivers were the ocean, because they are so gigantic that you can’t see to the end of them.  Their pretty amazing.

We had dinner on the Indian river the other night, and it was tasty.  The seafood is to die for down here.  It was the perfect night.  The weather was great, which in Florida, especially this time of year can be a tad HOT, but it was nice and breezy this night.  We ate, drank and laughed, and of course had another good night, with another good meal, with wonderful company.

Thanks, Donovan’s and Bonefish Willy’s!

Ojai

ojaipic

We’ve been on some adventures over here lately.  My mom is in town, and we pretty much haven’t stopped once.  Hubby has been working, as usual, and we have been cruising up and down the coast, and through the mountains.  The other day we decided to go to Ojai.  I love that place!  So did she.  I’ve been wanting to check out the Ojai Rancho Inn.  The place reminds me of something country/Indie, if you can only imagine.  That combination is right up my alley, and I’m looking forward to staying there, soon.  We also had lunch at one of my favorite spots, The Farmer and The Cook, which is an all organic farm-cafe marketplace.  If you’re ever in the area, stop by and at least try their smoothies, they are amazing!

Things may get a little slow around here in the coming months.  Our family has some fun, interesting projects we are working on, that are keeping us very busy.

Also, this month we are a sponsor over on Dani’s blog.  If you are a mom or mom-to-be, you should really check out her blog.  She gives lots of inspiring info and tips.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Disneyland Fun!

last week we ventured down to Disneyland.  We went down with a bunch of family, and had a great time!  I haven’t been to Disneyland since I was a little girl.  The rides, the junk food, the characters, it was all so fun to see.  We had 3 little kids with us, and the look on their faces was priceless when we entered the park.  It was the best part of my day, seeing their excitement!  Our first day we went to the park around 10, and the we snuck out around 3:30, while everyone else stayed until 9pm.  Dave and I stayed back the second day, while everyone else went from 10-10pm.  I couldn’t do another day, I was beat.  Disneyland is fun, but exhausting.  I was completely over stimulated, and we needed to get back to Santa Barbara, so we left on Friday.  What impressed me most, and maybe it’s because we don’t have kids, or maybe it’s because these kids are really good, is that the 3 littles with us, went all day with no whining or crying all day!  All in all it was a great time!  What would be awesome is if you lived in Anaheim and could get the yearly pass, and go whenever you want.  Now that would be cool!

Taco Night

taco night 010

The other night a few of us girls got together for a little supper club.  Well, it actually was our first supper club together, but we talked about doing it once a month because it was so fun!  Our friend, Katie, hosted.  She was wonderful, and an excellent cook.  It’s nice to get together with the girls every once in a while.  I love my husband, and love spending time with him, but it’s good to have girl time.  Katie made tacos, and all of the wonderful fixings to go along.  It was delish!

I almost forgot…Katie had us all try the dessert pictured below.  It was vanilla ice cream, with aged balsamic dressing, and a tiny bit of sea salt.  Oh my! It was amazing.
