superfood Smoothie and more

Hello!!!

I’ve been pretty quiet around here lately. Life is so busy, truth be told, I’m having a hard time keeping up with this space. We’ve gone through some changes all around in the last 6 months, and I’m trying to just stay afloat. All is good and will eventually get better down the road, but for now I’ve really had to keep my focus on Love Threads, as that is our main income.

I will however try to keep up more consistently on here. As some of you know I love anything health. After battling a few less healthy lifestyles in the past, this is something that I care deeply about. I’m hoping to share yummy, healthy recipes and anything else that may come to mind.

If you’re still hanging around, thanks for your patience. Life has a funny way of pulling you in different directions when you least expect it.

Love to you all!

This is my current addiction…

Cauliflower blueberry reishi smoothie

1/2 bag of Trader Joes’s frozen organic riced cauliflower

1 scoop Pescience peanut butter cookie protein powder

1/4 cup frozen organic blueberries

1 heaping teaspoon Sun Potion reishi (benefits of this adaptogen below)

1/2 – 1 cup filtered water

Blend together and enjoy! Add the water slowly so you get the consistency that you like for your smoothies. I like mine thick!

Ok, reishi!! First off, it’s amazing! Reishi is an adaptogen, which means it adapts to stress and exerts a normalizing effect upon bodily processes.

Reishi is known as the “queen healer mushroom”. This potent herb is capable of helping the body to overcome any health challenges it may encounter, while improving its ability to resist stress.  Promoting calmness, balance and inner strength. I love adding it to smoothies or making a tea.

I use Sun Potions reishi. I love their herbs and stand fully behind them. I also love that they are a local company in Santa Barbara.

Enjoy!

Earth Day

eleanor13 new

This past weekend we celebrated mother earth. Dave took Saturday off, which is a rarity, so we got to hang with daddy all day!  We enjoyed all of the activities that were happening in Alameda Park, for Earth Day. One of the great things about Santa Barbara, is there’s always so many different activities for families to enjoy!

There were lots of kid activities too, which was nice.  Eleanor had the chance to play the drums, which she loved.  She loves her music! We took a semester off, but she will be back to her music class in a couple of months.  It’s been such a great investment for her.

We listened to lots of live music, and snacked on lots of healthy goodness.  It’s always nice to just throw a few blankets down, relax, and listen to some good tunes.  I also had the chance to check out one of my favorites, Sun Potion.  They had a booth and were offering 20% off all of their products, so I totally scored!  If you know me, you know I love my herbs!

We tied up the weekend with a children’s concert on the UCSB campus, where Eleanor got to enjoy a little fun, with some of her tiny friends.

Hope everyone is having an epic week!

Local health:sun potion

FULL_MOON_PINE_POLLEN_POTION_2048x2048 new

I mean, it’s no wonder the beauty industry is a billion dollar industry.  If I had a billion dollars, I’d probably spend it all on health and beauty products. Ha! Lets just say, I have a soft spot for product.

Recently, I came across a local company, to Santa Barbara, called Sun Potion. Sun Potion, is a company full of super foods, and tonic herbs.  Their products are perfect. They seem to put every bit of love that they have into their products. I’ve been purchasing mine from Lazy Acres, if you’re not local, you can purchase them here. It’s all about clean, holistic living. Conscious sourcing, something we all could learn a little more about.  Here is a small blurb from their website, that sums the company up nicely…” Our intention is to deeply nourish and activate the whole body, mind, and spirit with  these Transformational Foods.”

If this is a new area for you, take it slowly, and please do your research.  This is not for everyone.  However, I do believe this lifestyle is a safe, healthy one.
