We are finding some of the best companies that you can turn to, and get what you actually want.

Another wonderful thing about this company is that they have such a wide selection, for everyone’s style. HUGE BONUS, FREE SHIPPING IN THE US AND CANADA!!! So basically we’ve found the best kept secret for all of you rug lovers.  Go check out this amazing company, and I promise you will not be disappointed.

finding the perfect home decor

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

Have you spent countless hours surfing the web, and on Pinterest, looking for that perfect pillow? I’m sure you have, we all have. I came across a wonderful company, full of fabulous rugs and pillows, and definitely felt it was worth sharing with you. If you’re anything like me, I always have to have the ‘perfect’ pillow. I’ve been looking for over a year, and can honestly say, this company nailed it!

Loloi, a company that specializes in rugs, pillows, throws, and more. Instead of spending countless hours going from site to site, grab a seat and spend hours cruising their site, and I promise you, you will find what you are looking for.

I went with a hand woven, 100% cotton, down-filled, indigo patterned pillow, and a hand woven, wool/cotton blend, ivory shag pillow. Both can be purchased here.  They compliment each other nicely. I even love how versatile they can be, moved from room to room for multi purpose decorating, if need to be.

There you have it, one of my number one picks for home decorating! Go stalk their site, you’ll be so happy!

Essential oils

diffuser new1

We have started using essential oils in our home.  We feel that they are a better alternative for us.  Let me tell you, we couldn’t be happier!  None of us have been sick (knock on wood), my anxiety has subsided, and our home smells amazing 24/7.  I have begun to make all of our home cleaners, so that I know exactly what is in them.  With Eleanor starting to crawl, I feel better knowing what’s on our wood floors.  It’s been a really amazing experience learning how all of the different oils work. I’ll fill you in on all of that later.

Recently I purchased a new diffuser.  I wanted a somewhat modern, updated one.  I found this one on Amazon, and have to say I’m completely in love with it.  It was reasonable, works great, and diffuses for up to 12 hours. It was too good to pass up and not share with you.

I would love to hear some of your essential oil stories or uses?  Being that we are new to it all, I’m really just sitting back and taking it all in.  I’m loving all of the different uses.  My sweet friend, Casey over at caseyleighessentials, shares amazing stories and recipes with oils.

Below is a wonderful photo showing the different uses of some of the oils…

4 months

Time has flown by…

Eleanor is four months now, and there are so many changes taking place.  She is rolling over, having lots of conversations with us, and has started teething.  She really is a good baby, and definitely has her own personality.  Motherhood sure is fun, but completely exhausting all at the same time.  I’m hangin’ on tight to these next few months, because I know they are going to fly by.

We have finally moved into a bigger space, a home! We have a small back area, and a beautiful front yard.  When you live in Santa Barbara space is hard to come by, well, unless you’re Oprah. haha!

September is here, and I’m kind of ready for some Fall weather.  Even though Fall in Cali isn’t quite the same as Fall in the Midwest, I’ll still take it.  I just want to be able to put on a sweater once a week. Ha!

Cheers to September!!!

The new normal

It’s been quiet around here.  Life has completely changed, and we are trying to get a good schedule down.  Any free time I have, I’ve been working on Love Threads.  The store has been very busy, and little miss Eleanor keeps us quite busy too. All good stuff, but really just trying to find the “new normal” around here.

First and foremost, the sleep schedule.  We are sleep training and it has gotten a lot better.  Some nights better than others. Eleanor is only a month old, so we don’t expect a lot out of her, obviously. Ha!  Next up, trying to figure out how many hours a day I’m carving out for Love Threads.  Mornings work best for us.  We all function really well in the morning, and Eleanor usually takes a couple hour nap.  So basically all orders are filled in the morning, and my buying usually takes place in the late afternoon, when she is napping again.  Lastly, just getting an overall day schedule down. We are really organized people.  We have always had a schedule and pretty much stuck with it.  Obviously, we know having a newborn it isn’t always easy.  Although, we know we can try our best.  For us this is what works, others can fly by the seat of their pants, and that works for them.

Overall, life is good and finding this new normal has been a great life lesson, especially to slow down.  The biggest lesson we have received is not being selfish, one bit!  I’m glad I waited 36 years to have my first child.  I’m not sure I would have been ready before now, to be honest.  I commend you twenty something mamas, it’s not a small feat.  This is definitely the biggest accomplishment my husband and I have had in life.  It’s also the most amazing thing that has happened to both of us.  I’m so so happy we have been blessed with this opportunity.

We love you more than all the stars in the sky, Eleanor.

surf chic

We live on the coast, and therefore we surf.  Well, let me clear that up, my husband surfs.  I’m a beach girl.  I could stay, play and lay all day long if my life allowed.  Here are some homes that show just how chic surfing really is.  But, we all knew that anyway, right?!

Oh, by the way, can I please have all of these homes. One can always dream….

I’m a big believer in “how a space feels.”  I like clean, white spaces.  Our home now isn’t white like I would love, but it is definitely clean and has an open feel about it.  Unfortunately, the walls are cream, with white trim.  It works, and is fine for now, until we have a place all of our own.  Here are some inspirational spaces that I really enjoy…

home inspiration: house plants

These plants are like large green sculptures?! They’re gorgeous.  I have to say I love giant plants in a home.  I definitely don’t have the best green thumb, but it has certainly gotten better over the years.  My latest favorite, is the fiddle leaf fig. You can find them at your local nursery.  If you see one, can you pick one up for me and drop it off on my doorstep.  Thanks!

Have a great weekend!
