Figs happen to be my new favorite thing lately.  I was pretty sure when a girlfriend of mine handed me one, I wasn’t going to like it.  I remember my parents eating them when I was little (Italians are big on figs), and yuck, I did not like them. But, she insisted, and I have to be honest, she’s my Persian friend, who happens to make me try lots of strange foods, which I usually end up liking, so I tried the fig, and loved it!

Figs are one of the healthiest fruit you can eat.  They have lots of fiber, potassium, manganese and vitamin b6.  The health benefits are; lowers blood pressure, helps protect against breast cancer, insulin lowering leaf in diabetes, bone density promoter, and much more.

I found good, organic figs at Trader Joe’s.  You should try them, I think you may like them.  They’re so sweet and juicy.  I’m off to go find some yummy fig recipes.  Share some if you have any, please!
