a year in review

2013

Happy New Year’s Eve!

I know I’m getting old when I decided against having a party tonight, because I honestly don’t think I can stay up late enough.  I know, lame.

I hope everyone had a wonderful year.  We sure did.  Lots of ups and downs, and turnarounds.   Overall, it was a great year!

Most of our year was trying to get pregnant.  As some of you may know we went through mounds of fertility treatments, that ended in us (me) finally getting pregnant.  Wow, I commend any woman that has gone through that.  Hardest thing I’ve ever been through, and you are all my true heroes.  The support I received from friends and even strangers, was the biggest gift I could have received this year.  Unless you’ve been there, you’ll never know the angst, worry, fear, pain, and then relief, if it even works.  Love to all of my mamas.

We did a bit of traveling, which we intend to do more of in 2014. We are starting the year off with a trip to Big Bear with some friends.

I opened my online shop, Love Threads.  I’ve been in the business for over 10 years, it’s pretty much all I know.

My mom and dad made their appearance quite a few times, which we always love.  We tend to get out and travel to different areas along the coast when they are here.

I’m sure I’m forgetting a ton more things, but overall can’t complain, can only be thankful.

I thank every one of my readers who have supported our blog and shop throughout the year.   I am truly thankful for all of you.

2014, is going to be the best year yet!

Peace~

The last of Florida

We are back home and back to our regular every day activities.  I am working on a few projects and one really BIG one that I can’t wait to share with you VERY soon.  I’m so excited I can hardly wait, but I have to, just for a few more weeks.  We had the best time in Florida.  We were down there to deal  mainly with some medical stuff, but we had lots of free time to enjoy our surroundings.  The pictures below were of our last hooray at the beach with Dave surfing and doing his thing in the water. I wish I could surf, I’m afraid of sharks.  True story.  I even spent the summers of my childhood at the beach, and to this day I have a huge fear of sharks.  So I just put my toes and maybe a little more in and that’s it.  I leave the cool surfing thing up to my husband.

Thanks, Florida.  You sure are hot and humid, but you also have the most amazing clouds in your sky.

a night on the river

river

Hello from Florida!

We are still here and still enjoying every moment of it.  This place is so beautiful.  It’s amazing how every which way you turn there is water, whether it’s an ocean or a river.  We happen to not only be by the beautiful Atlantic ocean, which is by far, WAY warmer than the Pacific ocean, but we happen to be by two gorgeous rivers.  The Indian river and the Banana river are the two that we cross to get to the ocean.  When I first arrived here I thought the rivers were the ocean, because they are so gigantic that you can’t see to the end of them.  Their pretty amazing.

We had dinner on the Indian river the other night, and it was tasty.  The seafood is to die for down here.  It was the perfect night.  The weather was great, which in Florida, especially this time of year can be a tad HOT, but it was nice and breezy this night.  We ate, drank and laughed, and of course had another good night, with another good meal, with wonderful company.

Thanks, Donovan’s and Bonefish Willy’s!

cocoa beach

Another stop on our journey through the sunshine state, brings us to Cocoa Beach, Florida.  Dave and I had lunch a cool place called Simply Delicious.  Everything at Simply Delicious is homemade, including the bread.  We tried hard to resist the homemade cookies, but eventually broke down and had one.  Our next stop in Cocoa Beach took us to the legendary, Ron Jon Surf Shop.  This place is wall to wall gear.  My husband was in heaven.  I kind of was too.  We purchased some fun stuff for us and for friends.  Our last stop in Cocoa Beach was “the beach”.  The beaches here in Florida are so white, with the prettiest color of blue/green ocean.

We really like you, Florida!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

mel fisher’s treasure museum

mf10^^^One of the treasures found on the dive.^^^

The other day we went on a little adventure to find Mel Fisher’s treasure museum.  Mel Fisher was a master diver, who opened the first dive shop in Redondo Beach, California.  He set out, with his wife, for one year to search for treasure.  He began his adventure by diving off the Florida coast.  In 1985 he discovered on a dive, the Atocha, which sank in 1622 on its way back to Spain.  The Atocha was one of 28 ships in the fleet, carrying the Queen of Spain’s bounty.  The emerald’s found on the dive, from the Atocha, are some of the world’s finest quality.  There were also millions of dollars worth of silver and gold coins, and bars.   He also found the treasures from the ship Santa Margarita, on another dive.

Mel always said on rising, “today is the day.”  And it sure was in 1985, when he hit the “motherload”.

I Hope everyone had a great Labor day!

Melbourne Beach, florida

mb12^^^The beaches here are absolutely beautiful^^^

Hello!  We are in Melbourne Beach, Florida.  Melbourne Beach, is one of the oldest beaches in Florida.  We are loving it! Everyone is so friendly, and the weather has been beautiful, hot, but beautiful.  The ocean and the sand color are so different from our beach in Santa Barbara.  The ocean is very green, with a touch of blue, and the sand is white.

I was here for one week before the hubby came down to meet me, and now that he is here, we have been exploring everywhere and everything.  One of the things that I love about Dave, is that he is so adventurous, and gets me out to be more adventurous.  Melbourne and Melbourne Beach are both very small communities, and tight communities, where everyone seems to know each other.  I like that.  Also, very clean, I like that even more.  We’ve had some great food, good laughs, and have met some amazing people.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Florida

fl6

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I hopped on a plane down to Florida, for one day. You heard me, one day. I had a little business to take care, which went overwhelmingly well.
I enjoyed my one whole day there, the weather seemed tolerable, I thought it was going to be unbearably humid. It wasn’t that humid, to me, but remember I’m originally from Omaha, Nebraska. I think the whole trip was made mainly because of the hosts that had me into their home. They are originally from Omaha, which is our connection. I have to be honest, in hopes that I don’t offend anyone, but Midwesterners have to be the most down to earth, kind, sincere, loving people around. I miss the Midwest everyday, but I am grateful to live where I do because I sure do love the ocean.
Anyway here are a few snapshots of Florida…
